Terminal 4 was inaugurated in 2017 to receive national and international flights. Cancun International Airport is the first airport in Mexico to have four terminals, and this is something it really needs since the traffic is getting bigger every year and the hotel offer in Cancun and the Riviera Maya is getting bigger too. An on-site hotel is also planned to be opened, although currently is still working in progress.
Cancun Airport terminal 4 is composed of two levels of double height and a mezzanine level. The shopping area consists of duty-free shops, a food court, and other businesses.
The terminal 4 building means a 36.7% expansion of the airport’s extension, with 67,000 square meters, which include documentation areas, security filters, last waiting rooms, and baggage claim room. The extension has two tracks.
14 national and international airlines operate in the terminal, such as Aeroméxico, Interjet, Air France, and Lufthansa.
The terminal building has a Leed Silver certification granted by the Green Building Council of the United States, which means that it is a property with intelligent and sustainable use of energy.
Now that terminal 4 is operating, Cancun Airport has become one of the most important Airports in Latin America.
