Rapid Covid tests at the Cancun Airport – The State Health Services of Quintana Roo began the application of rapid tests for Covid-19 at the Cancun International Airport.

The actions were carried out in coordination with state and federal agencies and personnel from the airport facility.

10 modules were installed and a total of 242 rapid tests were performed, no positive reagents were found.

Rapid tests are applied in Quintana Roo from December 12 to the population with symptoms such as cough, fever, or headache. Playa del Carmen, Cancún, and Othón P. Blanco were the first municipalities to apply this measure.

From December 12 to December 22, a total of 1,500 rapid tests have been applied. This type of device analyzes the blood to find the presence of antibodies that reveal probable infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Rapid Covid tests at the Cancun Airport

The governor of Quintana Roo, Carlos Joaquín González explained gave some words.

“We must be attentive to what is happening in the world. All of us are very aware of the arrival of English visitors to Quintana Roo. We have installed revision and diagnostic filters at the Cancun airport. We will continue to take care of visitor’s health, ”he said.

He explained that Quintana Roo cannot stop the arrival of planes from the United Kingdom. As there would have to be a notice from the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

He confirmed that yesterday afternoon a flight arrived at Cancun from London and an operation was implemented for an international health review that included the installation of 20 care modules for the 270 passengers and there was no confirmed case of contagion.

With these new measures on the new Covid-19, Quintana Roo strength its compromise with tourism and passenger’s health.

        I second kristens question. It states they are rapid results so does that mean you get the results directly after it’s been done? Also curious if you will be offering for people flying back to USA since starting Jan 26th they are now requiring any international travelers to have negative Covid test 3 days or less prior to traveling back to USA

          The Covid test will likely be available for tourists, in central places such as the Cancun airport, some hotels, and the hotel zone. We have to wait for the government to set up everything, we will be informing you as soon as possible. At the moment there are rapid covid tests at the Airport only for British Passengers.

          But you can find laboratories in Cancun Downtown where you can get the test.

      Hi we are suppos to be arriving Cancun next week Thursday 1/28/21 and returning home Sunday to the United States where do we go to get tested so we can return home . As soon as we land we need to tested right say in order to get the test on time so we can return home Sunday with no problem. Please let me know

    Does the test need to be taken with 72 hrs exactly of departure? Example if test is taken at 3pm on Thursday but flight departs at 5pm on Sunday would the results be rejected?

    Hi, I have a trip booked at the end of Jan, and don’t want to have to cancel it, I also don’t want to spend a day at the hospital trying to get a test and run the risk of not getting the result. Can you please also make the testing available to US citizens to get on the plane, the airlines need a negative result to board the aircraft.

    We were able to get confirmation from our resort this week and have heard several other resorts are doing they same- they will be providing free rapid antigen testing at the resort to accommodate the recent changes to get back into the US. If you end up testing positive they will also provide you with accommodations while you have to quarantine until you are able to return. I would recommend checking with whichever resort you are booked with.

      My understanding is that you need a PCR test to enter the USA as of January 28th, so rapid test will not be acceptable. PCR test usually takes 24 to 48 hours.

    We are 11 days away from having to comply with the CDC’s requirement to present a negative COVID test within three days of departure. I am scheduled to fly back to the US on the 26th. I will not be staying in the immediate Cancun area but rather Playa Del Carmen. Will there be any efforts to have testing services there or will my only option be the airport? How much time do we need to allot for being tested and receiving a result? Is it the same day?

    we have booking 1st week of febuary 21. if we get test result from usa in last week of travel. It will cover our trip with this covid result. So we donot have to do anymore testing any where.

    Hi cancun airport.
    French authorities inform passengers to France that a PCR test should be performed 72 hours before the flight. Antigen test is not accepted.
    Is it possible to perform it at CUN ? How much time to get the results?
